folktale week 2024
Folktale week is an Instagram illustration challenge to interpret 7 prompts into a folktale style narrative.
2024's prompts were Mist, Gate, Blight, Trail, Depth, Bone and Blossom.
My final image sequence was inspired by 'The Huntsman: Winter's War'.
Painted in traditional gouache on watercolour paper.

Below are some of the preliminary sketches leading up to developing my final sequence.​
My first step was to make a mini book recounting my inspiration imagery from memory. The sketches and compositions went through many changes, but this was a great basis to explore ideas in greater depth.
